'Martilyo Gang' strikes again, causes panic in SM North EDSA
A robbery incident rocked a Quezon City mall Sunday, sowing panic among shoppers and forcing officials to close parts of the mall.
The so-called Martilyo Gang hit SM North EDSA at around 7 p.m. with some shoppers reporting gunshots in the department store area.
Police have since cordoned the area off, but only the department store was shut. Other parts of the three-building complex remained open.
The robbers allegedly smashed a jewelry store's glass display case using a hammer, a modus operandi distinct to the Martilyo Gang.
The incident came not a year after a jewelry store heist also linked to the criminal group also caused panic in SM Megamall.
No one was reported to have been hurt in the incident but police officials have assured the public that they are on top of the situation.
